Sirius Telecom announced today that it has significantly upgraded its switching facilities in Los Angeles, CA. by purchasing a substantial amount of ports from Veraz Networks. The upgrade will handle newly signed business from one of the largest Tier One carriers in the USA that wishes to connect with another Sirius Telecom Tier One PTT located overseas.
Dan Maxwell, Chief Technical Officer for Sirius Telecom, commented, The amazing technology of the Veraz platform allows us to seamlessly add more trunks into service on an as needed basis, thereby conserving capital. The new ports, which we just purchased from Veraz, will facilitate a legacy Tier One Carrier in the US, by converting their circuits from T1 to E1 while also interconnecting and intermeshing with both companies using the advanced routing capabilities of C7 and SS7.
Chris Edgecomb, Sirius Telecom's CEO, added, The first phase of this new business will add forty million minutes a month through our platform. We expect to benefit from an additional forty million minutes with the second phase installation, which is likely to be ready by early first quarter, 2008.
Edgecomb further stated, The Veraz Control Switch has truly defined itself as not only a Next-Gen VoIP platform capable of handling all the variants of SIP and H323, but also has proven to be a very stable international gateway for traditional switching as well. In a word, Veraz has proven to be the best of both worlds for Sirius.
