RingCentral Editorial Review

Cheap Business Calls with RingCentral

RingCentral’s most popular service is RingCentral's Unlimited Office system, which comes with 4 lines and unlimited calling. The plan also features 1000 toll free minutes per month and a 30-day money back warranty.

The Ringcentral Unlimited Office Plan is essentially cheaper the more users you have (users meaning the number of devices you have total, including softphones, desk phones, and fax machines). With 1 user the plan costs 49.99 a month, with 4 users it’s 24.99 a month per user, with 10 users it’s 22.99 a month per user, and with 20 or more users, it’s 19.99 a month per user.

RingCentral Features

The RingCentral Unlimited Office plan also comes with quite a few impressive and business friendly features, like a cloud-based PBX, unlimited extensions, and a dial-by-name directory.

You can also have RingCentral forward your business calls to your iPhone, for on-the-go business calling.

Toll-Free Number

Additionally, and this especially helpful for businesses, the RingCentral Unlimited Office Plan comes with 1000 free toll-free minutes. A toll-free number is useful - customers can call a business for free.

Additional toll-free minutes cost 3.9 cents per minute.

Vanity Number

A vanity number can help a business connect with customers and raise its profile in the market (think 1-800-Flowers). A vanity number is available for businesses at a one time cost of $30.

E911 Service Included

In order to comply with FCC regulations, your PBX system must be able to make emergency calls to the proper authorities. RingCentral will make sure your system is able to make 911 calls, and will connect them for you. They do charge you a small surcharge a month to make this happen.

RingCentral Unlimited Office Specifics

The RingCentral Unlimited Office plan is the most popular of RingCentral’s plans.  RingCentral Unlimited Office is a great choice for small businesses. Additionally, your office can make calls to anyone in the United States or Canada for free.

For $25 a month (that's the average cost per user if you have 4 users), you can make unlimited calls within your office phone system and unlimited calls to anyone in the United States and Canada. It's not for free (you're paying $25 a month for the service) but you don't have to pay for long distance.

The RingCentral Unlimited Office plan also offers unlimited faxing, too. That'll save you anywhere from $5 to $15 a month for a fax line with a VoIP system - or $40 a month if you a fax line with a traditional phone service.

Call Management

One of the best features the RingCentral Unlimited Office plan is call management, which can save your office a lot of time and energy. RingCentral will answer calls, forward calls, hold calls - that's an auto attendant, which most other VoIP providers have - and record the calls! Additionally, RingCentral can host your business voicemail. They can also forward voicemail files to your email.

No risk 30-day trial

RingCentral offers a 30-day trial of the Unlimited Office plan. You can cancel service any time before exactly 30 days from the time your VoIP system is set up. You can also return your phones within 90 days, as long as the devices are in good condition.

No Unlimited International Calling

Nobody offers free unlimited international calling for businesses but we wait in hope for that great day.

If you do have RingCentral’s Unlimited Office plan and need to make international calls, you can find out how much a call to a particular country costs by visiting the RingCentral website (www.ringcentral.com).

Fees and Use

RingCentral, like most phone companies, charges some fees for changing your service. With RingCentral Office, there is a one-time processing fee of $10 when you “downgrade” an existing plan to one with fewer minutes and/or features.

Unlimited Plans are for normal residential or business use, which is defined on the RingCentral website.

According to RingCentral, Unlimited Plans cannot, under any circumstances, be used for “call-in lines, call centers, conference calling, trunking (to a PBX or otherwise), continuous or extensive call forwarding, autodialing, fax blasting, telemarketing (including without limitation charitable or political solicitation and/or polling), junk faxing, fax spamming, or other high volume or multi-person calling or faxing purposes.”

What is Excessive Use?

Excessive Use of Unlimited Plans is also prohibited. The term ‘excessive use’ can be fairly hard to figure out, but, basically, if you use more minutes in a month than 98% of all RingCentral Unlimited Plan customers, you have exceeded the appropriate amount of use. Excessive Use is measured monthly, which can make steering clear of it a little tricky. Your use for that month is matched up to other RingCentral users for that month. For example if in December you used 5000 minutes and all other Ringcentral users averaged 6500 minutes, you would be in the clear.

But if in January you used 5500 minutes and other ring central users’ minutes dropped dramatically to approximately 6000 minutes or lower, you could be in danger of violating the Reasonable use policy.

Additionally, you can’t go over 10,000 minutes in a month, which is also deemed as excessive use.

If you violate these policies (which is kind of hard to do, especially when it comes to the 10,000 minute limit: that's being on the phone for 5 hours a day for 30 days a month), RingCentral gives itself a right to manage or change your service (complete details are here). They may charge you per minute or change you to a metered plan. It's at their discretion.

Small Business Miracle The way a small business manages their phone calls could be the difference between a low production and a record breaking month. The ability to pick my caller ID and call out from my phone system on top of handle all of my incoming calls on my cell phone as if they were calling in to a large office is a real win for my business. This is where office phones are going, and RingCentral does it best; I'm not sure what I would do without it.

RingCentral Has Helped My Business I had my IT team look into a VoIP system about seven months ago after giving into all the advertising I am seeing about it these days, since we are looking to cut costs. I was wary at first about switching to a VoIP system because I had heard horror stories of dropped calls, etc., but that has not been my experience whatsoever with RingCentral thus far. Set up was simple, after an introductory call and an explanation of my needs, we had RingCentral's system up and running in a couple of days. Since then, business has not skipped a beat, and we've been able to cut our phone bill pretty significantly. Looking back on my decision to switch, I am glad I did. This is a no-brainer for people looking to cut business overhead costs.

Ring Central Works as advertised We switched over to RingCentral about 6 months ago after hearing it advertised on the radio. Prior to RingCentral, we had bounced around a few other VoIP providers that we were overall unhappy with. After switching to RingCentral, we no longer have to suffer through the headaches of our phone service going down and causing us to lose business. If you're looking for a quick and easy phone system that offers a bunch of useful features, as well as a professional company to deal with, I'd go with RingCentral. We have not had an issue since switching over to them and will continue to use them for the foreseeable future.

Ring Central new Computer System See Cons above. I'll restate. Brand new online set up system is equivalent to the ne Coke. Ridiculously user Unfriendly and customer service people do not understand that this is a problem. They also will not let you go back to the old system. Look at Grasshopper or phone.com as an alternative.

The Bad:

Lousy connections all the time. Cuts off the other person all the time. Calls fail midway. HIGHLY unreliable and they try tweaking this and that all the time but it does not help. Nobody should use this for a business where phone calls are important.

Don't use this company!!! They put me completely out of business for the last two days. When people call our 800 number they get put on hold and we never get the call. We've lost thousands so far, but they won't call us back or help. We just sit on hold for hours. Service center is in the Philippines.

Ring Central is not for companies making International companies Also expects call to drop randomly we are down to 1-2 calls a week dropping. I think this is more an issue with VOIP then any one carrier. Also call groups and sending calls to more then one extension is very limited.

Do your homework - don't sign a contract! I tried RingCentral because everything I read (go look for yourself) says "month to month" or "NO contracts". Which is true until they offer you a deal on your pricing. They give you a couple of bucks off a month and then it's a year contract. Don't do it! It's worth paying the few extra bucks for a few months to figure out if it really works for you. For me, it seemed to initially. The customer support seemed really interested in helping. Unfortunately, wanting to help and being friendly and having the skills to ACTUALLY help are completely different. I should have known there was trouble when the support asked what the default mail client was on a Blackberry - Uh, Blackberry? Also, there is a language barrier. I don't have a problem with people that speak English as their second language, I applaud them. But when I'm on a deadline trying to get something done and I have to repeat myself 5 times because they can't understand me, it's too much to ask. I want support from someone who understands me the first time so I can get my issue addressed. I don't think it's too much to ask. After months of the support calling me to follow up on issues that I had submitted without actually giving me the information on how to fix them - I gave up. They seem to have good intentions and probably have an OK system. But if you don't have all the time in the world to figure it out for yourself, don't expect a lot of help from them.

Good features, BAD service We used ringcentral a while ago and recently tried them again. As a small, mobile business we were attracted to their iPhone and Android apps. Unfortunately their customer service is still bad and we noticed reliability issues even during our short trial period. We were not always able to make calls - we would dial a number and it never connected. Always received calls though which is important I guess.. I would be hesitant to use RC if you really rely on your phone service, as most companies do. Would not recommend them at this time.

The Good:

Good features and service overall. Solid administration features.

The Bad:

Feature overrides on RingCentral-sold IP phones, some for purely advertising purposes, which is really annoying, especially when interface features of high-end (and costly) IP phones are unavailable. Web administration interface is overly complicated. If you get a digital line you will pay almost as much as for POTS.

RingCentral Canada - IP Phones I have used RingCentral for several years, mostly for its advanced call management features for incoming calls. I find those features to be the best of any VoIP service I have looked at. In the last year I have started to use the service for outgoing calls as well, initially using their soft phone application on my laptop. With a good microphone the soft phone application usually works well, but I found that it was dropping out regularly when the laptop was also running other applications. Therefore I recently decided to purchase a RingCentral IP phone. I have been much less satisfied with their service in this area than in others. My complaint with this service is that they cripple some features of the IP phones they sell, especially the display options on the higher end phones. I have a Cisco model SPA525G purchased from RingCentral for some $300. The essential call features of the phone work well and were set up by RingCentral before it was delivered to me. However, a number of features, especially those related to the display (which is quite advanced on this phone), are overridden by settings that are periodically downloaded from Ring Central. Given the price of the phone and the fact that the settings that are overridden are not critical for Ring Central service, I find this very annoying. Annoying enough, in fact, that I cannot recommend the purchase of an IP phone from RingCentral. They also sell IT phone adapters for analog telephones, which only cost $30 or so, and if I were doing it again that's what I would purchase. I am offended that RingCentral chooses to limit features on a phone it sold me at full price, when I am already paying for the service and the feature limitations have nothing to do with the delivery of that service.

RingCentral Works We first heard of RingCentral on the radio a few months ago, and since we were having issues with our old VoIP provider, I decided to do some research and found this site. Most of the reviews were positive, so I gave them a call. The sales team was very professional and had a quote for me within hours. Within the next couple days we had our entire office outfitted with the new RingCentral phone system. Gone are the days where we are dropping calls and losing business almost daily. We've had ringcentral for 2 months now and have had no significant issues. We were most amazed by how many useful features the Ringcentral phone system actually offers, and how easy they are to get set up. If you are coming from a traditional phone service provider, or a VoIP provider you are not happy with, I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised with how ringcentral provides some great features.

Hard to cancel, poor call center I am always suspicious of a company with a bad call center. Particularly a company in the business of telecom. A five minute call to cancel the service turned into 45 minutes of being on hold, being dropped, being sent to voice mail, and finally, when I was able to talk to a person (because I didn't follow their call center instructions) it was explained to me why my experience with their call center was perfectly fine, and, no, the person I was talking to was not going to do anything about it because their call center routing was obviously just fine. Lovely. I won't be using them next time.

The Good:

The Bad:

Increased pricing by 80% as of 08-01-2012. Overpriced and unreliable. All the good features mean nothing when the system doesn't work. They have had system failures monthly which last 1-6 hours. Yes, that means you can't get or make any calls during this period of time. Also, many of their features have software issues and don't work.

Unreliable and expensive I have been with Ring Central 2+ years, they are growing too fast and they are getting sloppy in the service. I don't recommend them and I will be looking for a new VOIP company to switch too.

RingCentral nearly destroyed our business I am the founder of a charter school and rely upon our phone system for parent communication. At this time I rely on the phone system for parents to call and enroll their children. We just distributed 20,000 fliers and our main phone number died... we get a message, "this number not yet allocated." I am on hold, again. This is the second time this has happened in the past 8 months. Last time was a customer service nightmare and took nearly 4 weeks to resolve. We were going to switch providers but was talked back into RingCentral by a manager. The nightmare is on again but this time I'm switching immediately. If you rely upon your phones for customer communication - don't go with RingCentral.

RingCentral - Everything we need and more We are a medium sized law firm that switched over to RingCentral after about a year and a half of intermittently bad phone service with another VoIP provider. Instantly the quality of my work life improved since the headache of our phone system disappeared. Since we switched to RingCentral, our call quality has improved, and our system has always-on reliability, which is more than I can say for my old phone service provider. The one time we did have a minor issue, RingCentral was quick to answer the call, and quick to fix the issue. I originally had heard an ad on the radio for RingCentral about a year ago, and I'm kicking myself for not switching sooner. The features offered by RingCentral far out-do what we had before. Our phone system feels like an advanced, finely-tuned machine now, rather than a slow old dinosaur that never works.

RingCentral: Clients Are Delighted As a director of a nonprofit business that is fast paced and requires me to be in the community, Ring Central has proven to be the best office companion. My calls are answered online and by calling in from my mobile phone. I am happy with Ring Central customer service and my clients are delighted with the method of sending messages to me without delay. In addition, I am pleased to receive positive and speedy support when needed from Ring Central staff. In comparison to traditional methods of relaying messages, Ring Central is the most economical and quaility method of service.

RingCentral: Options Are Limitless I highly recomment RingCentral. The options are limitless with the way you can set up your answering preferences, etc.No matter if you are a smallorlarge business, the setupprovides the ability to handle calls very professionall. The RingCentral staff will take the time to walk you through any issues you may have so you understand to make changes on your own going forward. If you have an unexpected interruption in your computer network, you will loose the ability to use any desktop phones. However, you can still use the RingCentral app on your smartphone to carry on business calls as usual. I love the ability to be out of the office but continue to send and recieve calls as though I'm sitting at my desk.

RingCentral: Full Featured System Yet Easy to Use and Support Ive been using different RingCentral services for about 2 years now. Ive personally set up about 30 phones (22 Polycoms and 8 Cisco headsets). The setup is straightforward, and the sound quality of the Polycom and Cisco phones is very good, though I personally prefer the Polycom sound quality. I've had a few minor configuration questions and whenever I contacted Ring Central Tech Support, they've assisted me in solving the problem. They are a professional organization.Ive evaluated many different VoIP phone systems, and have personally used six different hosted systems over the past few years. I like RingCentral the best.

RingCentral: A Big Help The phone system has been a big help managing our incoming calls. I work in a small but busy office and receive more than 500 calls a month. A large number of calls can be handled by with automated responses (i.e. what are you office hours?, where are you located?). This system has worked well for handling these calls. The staff is a mobile staff, being able to forward calls to staff memeber's personal phone without giving out the number is GREAT!!! I am still learning the full functionality of system. So far I really like.

RingCentral: Customize Features Our business uses Ring Central since we don't have a central office, but work from different locations. Ring Central allows us to provide excellent customer service since we can set up the call forwarding to reach us wherever we happen to be. The features are really helpful such as programming different extensions with different notification options, ring options, forwarding rules, etc. We also love that you can send and receive faxes directly to/from the 800# or you can set up a free local fax #.Re: customer service - we had some questions when we were setting up the fax settings and customer service couldn't have been more knowledgeable or courteous. They answered all our questions.Wewould recommend Ring Central to any business!

The Good:

-Great online knowledge base for questions -over the phone customer service is excellent -Very easy to understand RingCentral user interface -Employees go above and beyond for their customers -This is a very feature rich VoIP service -I keep finding new features that makes life a work a whole lot easier -iPhone app is pretty convenient to have for business on the go -It's great that voice mails automatically sends an email that you can listen to easily listen to from your computer

The Bad:

-You have to use one of their recommended routers for the internet or else the quality declines -They sell Plantronics phones but do not sell headsets. It's a hassle to find compatible headsets because they need adapters and some sites don't make that clear which makes the whole process frustrating. -VoIP in general (not just RingCentral) isn't the most reliable service because any type of internet problem will cause low quality calls with echoing, breaking up, and dropped calls, but it's a small price to pay for convenience and great service

RingCentral: Highly Recommend We've been using RingCentral for a little over a year and love them. We only had 1 real issue with them. For a couple weeks we kept having dropped calls and when you're a tech company, it doesn't look so good when we have technical issues during things like sales calls. We troubleshot for a few days not knowing the source and having to deal with the problem. RingCentral blamed our internet company and our internet blamed them. After many phone sessions with RC we found the source, an internet router that wasn't on the recommended list. Even though it turned out to be a simpler problem than we thought, RC covered all their bases and provided great service. I manage the whole business's phone accouts from my administrative company settings and love working with customer service when I need assistance and always get great guidance. I also recently had used the record a call feature for my first time after becoming aware of its existence, and I know all the people on the other side of my call was impressed with the official voice that comes on to know they're being recorded too. After evaluating different VoIP services and then choosing RingCentral and using it for a year, I would highly recommend their VoIP.

RingCentral: Quick Support Our company has been with RingCentral for years, there have been very few occasions when the phone system is down - when it's been a network-wide problem they have worked to fix it quickly; if it's just on our system they help us to work the problem out quickly.Right away when we signed up we were saving lots of money from our previous traditional land-line phone system. We also saved some money instantly by dropping the other electronic Fax companies we had been using to get faxes. RingCentral Fax system isn't perfect, but I remember before signing up with them I had 2 different eFax companies because neither one was reliable enough to go with them individually. Our first IP phone system was through a competitor for about a month, until we got the first bill! They were charging us for minutes we didn't use, and exorbitant prices on faxes that weren't even coming through! It was all based on how many minutes it was taking the fax to come through, not even on how many pages. We couldn't get rid of them fast enough. We haven't tried all the companies out there, but we are very happy with our RingCentral services.Sincerely,Jayhawk Auto Transport Inc

By switching to Ring Central, it is like I have multiple lines since Ring Central hands off the calls to our cell phones. This allows multiple calls coming in with no busy signal. All calls get answered promptly with a high level of professionalism. Great for my small business. Calls now go direct to a tech for better productivity. RingCentral: Professional Appearance We've used Ring Central for over a year to present a professional appearance on our website, to other businesses and over the phone using a toll-free vanity number and the online account settings. Incoming and outgoing calls are always clear without dropouts or interruptions and we're never out of our visitors reach; between the software and online settings, calls will go wherever we are. The "Call Controller is a favorite because we're tech-heads and it runs on the computer while we work, when a call comes in we can be where the caller needs us, in front of a computer. It also acts as a dialer, answering machine, recorder and many other functions including a mobile version that works on our smart phones. Overall the service has been a wonderful experience, we recommend RingCentral to any business, especially small businesses that need low cost and effective services that can be trusted and relied upon without become a drain on resources or requiring a degree to understand and use - we've never had a problem with RingCentral service or support and will happily remain customers into the future.

RingCentral Won Hands Down Using RingCentral has truly opened up our business model. As both a Real Estate Brokerage and as a Short Sale Negotiating company we love it. In one business we have the Polycom IP phones and the lines are crystal clear. In our alternate business we have no desk phones and have connected everyones cell phone via the RingCentral Extension Manager. The ability to ring to a desk, forward to a cell, then a home number or even more while always centralizing where the voicemail might be left is exceptional. We will never go back after working with RingCentral and this system. Also the mobile phone application as well as the desktop software options are amazing features to be considered when comparing options. RingCentral won hands down.

RingCentral: Intuitive and Easy I have been using RC for a couple of months now and I find it very intuitive and easy to use. Initially I signed up to transfer my toll free number over from ATandamp;T and to get a virtual fax number, that I previously used J2 fax for. The new service costs me one third of what I used to pay for the two features combined! That's a great deal. I also like the pro-active customer support. I found it helpful when RC folks reached out to me as a new client and offered help with the setup or learning new features. My only reservation is the limited reporting available to me. I have multiple lines attached to different divisions within the company and would like to be able to track the number of calls on each line, where they are coming from and their duration from my RC account. So far I have not found that information available anywhere inside the portal. All in all, I think this a great resource for a small business and, potentiall, for a larger company also. I recommend RC to all my clients.

RingCentral: Huge savings over traditional PBX We moved from a standard one number land line to a toll free inbound phone and fax system with 4 separate lines for less than the national carrier was charging us by a mile! The system is easy to manage, but if an issue has you confounded, a quick call to tech support has you up and going in no time flat! The e-fax system works well, but does need to be loosely monitored for failed faxes, but we have no major complaints. I know I haven't fully implemented all that Ring Central can do at this point, but I know when I have time to plug in the additional features we will be just as happy with them as the features we currently use. We aren't a large organization, but have appreciated the number of features and flexibility that are available to us through this service. We have found that it does take some time to understand how everything works. I would classify the user interface as being more "PC-like" than "Mac-like". In addition, I have always received helpful and accessible technical support when I needed to make changes. I am recommending this solution to friends and associates.

RingCentral: Really Happy I am really happy with the service from Ring Central. We had a unique situation of running a real estate office out of two separate locations and needed to have our business line ring at both locations. This is not possible with traditional business phone service. Ring Central was able to accomadate our needs and get us all set up. Their customer service people were great and helped me a lot getting everything set up. We originally ordered desk phones but were limited by being tethered to the desk to use the phone and returned them during the trial period for their adaptor system that works with cordless phones. We've been very happy with the call quality and haven't had any real problems with the service. The cost is comparable to what we were paying for a business line through Cox Communications only we get unlimited long distance in the US and Canada with Ring Central's service and paid extra for long distance with Cox.

RingCentral Best Feature Set We have been with RingCentral since 2008 back when the company was just a one man shop. The owner loved RingCentral back then as he had a toll-free number with auto attendant giving his company a bigger image. He was also able to turn off the business phone at a certain time through schedules ensuring that he did not receive business calls after business hours. The icing on the cake was that he no longer had to give out his personal phone numbers, well just to RingCentral. As the company grew so did the ways in which RingCentral was used. Each remote worker has their own extension which can be monitored for usage to reimburse expenses. Also workers can set their own schedule allowing them to determine when they are available and each location has their own RingCentral phone number with its own schedule. Faxes are included which is great on the few occasions each month when a fax needs to be sent or received, and everyones voicemail goes to their own email. No need for a voicemail email address that then needs to be distributed to each person. The only two features missing are text messaging and text to speech greetings. The text to speech greetings would be great as the available greetings are limited and need to be recorded, something people are reluctant to do.Other than that the service is great and we plan on being with RingCentral for several more years.

RingCentral - 5 stars from a happy customer A few years ago we have spent around $1,000 for the in-house PBX by TalkSwitch. It was a great system at that time, but once we discovered RingCentral (RC) our life changed for the better. The scallable system hasso many "bells and wistles" this review may take forever to write, so I will name just a few:- Flexible call routing based on rules: caller ID routing, incoming line routing, busy/available, hours of operations, department, extention, ring all, etc.- Electronic fax included with any plan: fax to email, fax from email. Fine quality and very reliable service.- Custom music/message on hold for each department. Use what RC offers or upload your own.- Calls can be handled with VOIP provided by RC or transfered to any landline or cell phone. You can travel and still make an impression that you are in your office.- Call queFirst, we have signed up for the electronic fax service and had it for a year. There was not a single glitch or problem during that time, so we decided to look closely at other things RC offers and end up with a Mobile plan.I called the support for help with setting up the departments and they were able to resolve my issues within a few minutes, being polite and professional. 5 stars for support, RingCentral!

RingCentral: Love the Service I signed up with RingCentral a few months ago and I love the service and the customer service they have always helped me asap and resolved any issue I was having before I learned how the system worked. I did have another provider for years before I found RingCentral. I am so happy I found RingCentral they make it so easy for me to run my business.

The Good:

Down time comparable to other VOIP provides I've used (VONAGE in Canada). In short, it is almost never down. Call management system is online and it's easy to review calls, I get voicemail in my email etc. Very customizable call handling rules. Since switching, I've never felt the need to look around for a better provider. I was able to add a second line with all the great calling features and call handling features for less than I was paying to have just a line and a few features.

The Bad:

Old fashioned POTS (Bell landline) was more reliable -- honestly phone NEVER went down. Setting up complex answering rules took a good bit of thinking and a bit of trial and error. Not too surprising since I actually handle individual callers differently and shuttle calls from extension to extension and number to number. Let's face it, if I could list any real cons, I would have switched to a different provider long ago.

RingCentral: Professional and Courteous I have been a customer since March of 2010.I started with RingCentral because of the flat cost for an toll-free number. I'm from Ontario and my only other option involved getting an 800 number from Bell and then praying that no one would call since I would be billed per minute. Of course, I WANTED people to call, but I was afraid of what the bill would be. Oh, and in addition to the cost to use the service, I paid a fee each month just to have the service.Ring Central offered me the prospect of having the service for a flat fee that was about the same as I was paying Bell without also having to pay a usage fee.In addition to this, I spoke with Ring Central reps who were willing to go thru contortions to allow me to use the US service (Ring Central was not in Canada yet) even though I was Canadian.Over the time I've been with Ring Central I've grown very fond of the online system that allows me to track calls etc and modify my answering rules on a whim. I've even added a second line and been able to silence the phone after 9pm!Have there been hiccups along the way? Sure. In each case Ring Central was professional and courteous. If I sound like quite the fanboy it's because although I know there have been issues (very few), I don't remember specifics, but I DO remember being happy with the outcomes. Before Ring Central, I'd been with Bell, Rogers (land line) (local to Canada), and Vonage (VOIP) in Canada and finally Bell for 800 service.

The Good:

There are a lot of great features as far as controlling what callers can see and customizing Voicemails. Customer service people have always been very nice to me.

The Bad:

Interface is complicated and not streamlined enough for my taste. Speaking to someone in Customer Service possible but takes much time out of the day to try and trouble shoot. Feel like I am paying thousands of dollars for something and getting very little for that money.

RingCentral: Getting Very Little We have ten digital lines and not one of them works regularly. So sad about that. We have spent thousands of dollars on this service and still don't have phone lines that I can send and receive phone calls over. The Customer Service assistance is kind but takes so much time out of my day and I have to call them on my cell phone because they can't hear me using our Ring Central phone lines. Something a bit ironic about that. Been struggling for at least six months with this system and because we don't receive or need to make a lot of calls and we all have cell phones we have been living with the troublesome situation but I think for us we just have to cancel this service and say enough is enough. Spending $200+ per month on a broken phone system is ludicrous. With that said, it is possible it might work for you. All the other reviews are good. It could be in some ways that we don't have a great internet service and have alot of things going on that may require too much bandwidth. I honestly don't know. But if this were the case, I feel like Ring Central should tell us "This is just not going to work with your system". Or if it really should work but we haven't been able to make it work for the life of us and I have had so many, many telephone calls with Ring Central Customer Service, then I think someone should come here in person to look at things and fix them once and for all, if it is even possible. So sad/mad about this all.

RingCentral: Bad Outweighs Good RingCentral's devices and configuringare easy to set up, whether you have 1 phone or 50 phones. Initially, when reseraching VOIP providers for our business RingCentral was hands down the best in the industry for Service, Features, Customer Service, Price etc. But once we becamea customer, issues started to arise from the moment we started implementing the new phone system. After being a customer for 12 months now, RingCentral has had2 network outages=no phones, no faxes, no business for our company. Customer Service is almost non-existent once you have become a customer. Long hold times, leave messages no one calls back. Account Manager(s) do not respond to email/phone callsunless you threaten to cancel service. Think this company is growingfaster than they know what to do with themselves.Long story short, the bad outweighs the good unfortunately.

More Than Happy with RingCentral We switched to RingCentral almost 3 months ago and have been more than happy with the service they have provided us. In terms of call quality and reliability, they have not skipped a beat compared to when we had traditional phone service, and RingCentral has proven much more reliable than any other VoIP provider we have tried (and believe me, we tried many). The RingCentral phone system has a huge selection of features, probably more than you will ever need, but they keep it surprisingly easy to use. If you're a business looking for a solid and reliable business phone provider, look no further.

RingCentral: Reliability Issues I have been using Ring Central for 6 Months and have spent over 100 man hours customizing it and trying to make it function properly.... I am throwing in the towel I am looking for a new Service provider. I get the system working for a week come back and wham something else is going on with the system. Cant call out today, not receiving calls tommorow. Then wait on hold for 15-20 min to get to customer service and then be on the phone for 1 hr + with customer service monkeying around with the system it just seems like a joke. I will keep VOIP however just going to find a comapny that can be more reliable. Ring Central thanks for showing me what to look for in a phone provider.

RingCentral: System finally not a worry I run a small business and we've spent the last 2 years cycling through different phone systems. We ran into countless problems including voice quality, terrible customer service, and a shortage of features. That all changed when we decided to give RingCentral a try. I had heard a lot about them in the news, so I decided to give them a shot. Finally my business's phone system is not a cause of worry anymore, and I can focus on more important aspects of my business. I would recommend RingCentral to anyone.Thanks,-Jim

RingCentral: Useless for Travel RingCentral is useless if you travel between several offices. I have had several problems in the past. Yesterday evening things came to a head. My fax that I sent at 11PM arrived the next day at 9:40AM. And my other one that I sent before noon today arrived at 6:30PM. If I did not send it by email, I would have lost the deal. After speaking with technical support, they suggested that I go in RingCentrals system and change the ports (when needed). I do not have the time to play miss technician! I need a system that works consistently.

Keep up the good work, Ring Central I'm aOutside Sales Agent who works on the phone full time! I havea Virtual office setup from my Companywhich is just super and up until recently, I've been using my land line in my home office and then have it forward to my cell if/ when I stepaway. I already had thought about how I really needed to upgrade to a professional phone service / set up, and with some of the recent changes in the campaigns I've been working - it was just time. In the past I've tried other ways of doing this, but in the end I needed a service where I could make both outgoing calls and receive incoming calls from the same phone line.(With the other Virtual office services, it's really incoming calls only - and then when you dial out, you're dialing from your land line phone service or from your cell with THAT Caller ID. I don't like this because then everybody gets my personal numbers. And it's not professional, because people think I'm not in my office). And the other feature I needed was unlimited calling. I wanted a service that would offer this at a reasonable price too. I remembered RC because the last Company I worked for had it. But then they were a huge office, and I didn't thinkRC wouldhave something with all these features and benefits for a single user, but I was wrong! So, now I've been with them for just under 30 daysand I couldn't be happier! And honestly, even if I went back to working in the office and had an inside line - no way would I be willing to give up my RC service! It has been a God sent and perfect for my business needs! Being I need to grow and brand my business, having a "corporate, toll free number and phone system" is a must and now I can. RC also allows you to take your numbers with you if you do decide to change phone services later. And you can do this at no charge and there are no stipulations. These are MY company phone numbers now and I'm going to keep them. As far as the plan itself - this phone set up gives a polished, established business presentation and I just love it! I use the Call Controller on my desktop when I'm in the office and I have the RC App on my phone for when I'm out. The App features are just awesome - I could literally be on the Moon and be fully operational in my office and callers get a consistent message ofmy presence in office (available to them). The other feature I love about the phone App is thatI can separate personal calls from business call too this way (again-in both incoming and outgoing calls). Just brilliant! They alsoGrandfathered me into the unlimited toll free calling plan, so for one price Ican work on thephoneall month long and never have to worry about my bill goingup!! How nice is that? Especially for a "small business" professional like myself.I could also expand as much as I wanted or just be a one man operation and thisis just a perfect fit! I'm SOLD and highly recommend looking into it! Keep up the good work, Ring Central.

Overall we are very happy - RingCentral Review Overall we are very happy with the service offerings of Ring Central. Their plans are competitive in price and the service offers many custom-selectable bells and whistles that will give your company a polished and professional presentation to your customers. The phone system is easy to configure and has many options like hold music, dial by name directory, call routing, and a "Call Controller" feature allowing you to completely manage all incoming and outgoing calls and all extensions directly from a one or more computers. Call quality is superb and is comparable to using a land-line phone system. It was simple for our company to set up our Ring Central phone system and it is easy for us to make on-demand changes when required. The service is custom tailored to fit your company's needs and system modifications/updates are easily made by us without having prior experience or system training. System start-up costs are minimized for each system extension can be dedicated to a VOIP phone, or forwarded to an existing landline, mobile number, and even to a 3rd party VOIP number. You can mix and match the configuration for each extension and customize the call forwarding for each extension on a case by case basis. The fax service is exceptional and is integrated with standard email. Incoming faxes are received in your emails inbox and sending faxes can be completed quickly by sending an email with attachment, without the need of logging into your Ring Central account. I read some of the reviews posted by other users and in all honesty, I have never once experienced an issue when I contacted Ring Central customer service or their technical support team. The support team speaks fluent English and have been able to professionally, quickly, and completely resolve the support needs experienced by my company. On the downside, there have been two network outages since we began using Ring Central in April-2010. One of the two outages, effecting all 800 numbers, lasted approximately 40 minutes. We were not given the outage's root cause analysis and these two outages did impact our business. The system has been stable for the past four months and as a precaution, we did put in place an alternate method for our customers to reach us. Another issue which Ring Central has not been able to resolve is the delay experienced with large internet fax transmittals. Multi-page faxes exceeding 5 pages can take as long as 15 minutes to be sent and/or received by our customers. It is my company's understanding that this delay is an inherent trouble when using the internet with IP fax and the delay is caused simply by the large amount of data being transmitted with multi-page fax transmittal. All IP fax transmittal service providers have the same problem and it not a unique problem to just Ring Central. In summary we are very happy with the service we receive from Ring Central and we would recommend this service to anyone looking for a VOIP and IP Fax service provider. Regarding reliability, it is a stable platform for the majority of time. We do not experience intermittent issues or problems that cannot be duplicated and resolved. Overall, this is an excellent value and with the 30 day free trial, I recommend anyone looking for a VOIP and IP Fax service provider to try Ring Central. Try out the service, fax, and customer support while there is no obligation. You will be glad you did!

RingCentral: unstable system We've used RingCentral for approximately 4 months and are mostly frustrated with the service and will be switching to a different provider very soon. On paper, the RC feature set looks impressive and the set-up is fairly simple. However, we have found their service to be unreliable including complete systemwide outages several times and random dropped calls. The sound quality is generally very good - at least on par with POTS lines. The tech support is, frankly, a joke. Level 1 support is located in the Phillipines and is nearly useless. Getting to a knowledgeable support person requires the case be escalated to level II support - a process that can take several days. If you are looking for just the cheapest price out there and willing to deal with frequent system glitches, then RingCentral is right for you. Otherwise, I'd recommend paying a little more and looking at some of the other providers.

RingCentral: glitchy system I chose RingCentral because they have the best features for the money. Their system is relatively robust, easy to use, and the sound quality is decent. However, their system is also very glitchy. Features in the system, such as department dialing, will stop working without warning and then start again. New glitches seem to appear randomly.Their foreign based customer service is terrible. They are slow, unknowledgable, and hard to understand. You'll be on hold for hours to resolve a simple issue that appeared from no where. The system hasalso completely crashed twice in the past three months, although for onlyshort periods of time. Beware!! You get what you pay for. I'mswitching to a provider with US based tech support, even if it costs more.

We operate a 40 seat customer service center and the features and reporting that Ring Central provides us is heads and shoulders above other providers that we have tried. We are paying a tiny bit more but it is well worth it.
